π§ [gentle acoustic guitar fades in]
narrator: lemon cakes was a duckling with soft yellow feathers, a green wing, and the wobbliest green-and-yellow hat youβve ever seen. she had curious eyes, pitter-patter feet, and a heart full of adventure.
π§ [duck sounds β ducks.wav by lostphosphene]
narrator: today, lemon cakes had decided something big: she was going to cross the pond β all by herself.
lemon cakes: βiβm ready to do this!β
ποΈ voice of lemon cakes β kawaii aerisita, generated using elevenlabs
π§ [cartoon boing β cartoon-sound-single-boing by sdroliasnick]
narrator: no mum, no map β just her green wings, her yellow body, her wobbly hatβ¦ and the big wide world. the morning sun was warm. the grass was still a little wet. and lemon cakesβ¦ well, she was ready.
lemon cakes (whispering): "yes i am."
π§ [gentle rhythmic beat β simple loopable beat by minecast_]
narrator: first came the hill by the pond β not too steep, but definitely squishy. every time her feet slipped, something soft would be there to catch her β a fallen leaf, a mossy patch, a tiny log that felt a bit like a cushion.
π§ [soft leaves crunch β soft leaves.wav by winkysadface]
lemon cakes: "well - how about that?"
narrator: next, she reached the edge of the pond. ophfff. it was busy today!
π§ [pond ambience β pond animals by elevenlabs sfx]
narrator: dragonflies were buzzing. lizards were scurrying. frogs were hopping. it felt intense.
narrator: lemon cakes paused. was she losing her nerve?
lemon cakes (softly): "mum would say let's think about this little by little."
narrator: and so she did β tiptoeing in, little bit by little bit.
π§ [water sploshing β elevenlabs sfx]
narrator: a wobbly rock path seemed to stretch across the water. lemon cakes squinted at the third rock.
lemon cakes (frowning): "that rock doesnβt look right to me."
narrator: but someone β somehow β had tucked a ribbon of bark over the slippery part.
narrator: lemon cakes stepped gently⦠and no wobble at all!
lemon cakes: "yay! itβs not too wobbly for me."
narrator: she smiled again, this time thinking of her mumβs voice:
mum's voice (in memory): "youβve got this, lemon cakes."
π§ [wind rustling trees β WIND_Autumn.Evening by newlocknew]
narrator: as the wind picked up and the pond rippled, something shimmering caught her eye β like a flash of magic.
narrator: and there it was. a shiny pebble, shaped like a tiny heart, resting right in the middle of the path.
π§ [magical twinkle β magical twinkle by universfield]
narrator: lemon cakes smiled. this looked very much like the special things her mum would sneak into her day β a feather in her snack pouch, a flower under her pillow, a shiny pebble on the windowsill.
lemon cakes (whispering): "maybe the whole pond universe is cheering me on."
narrator: after the big paddle and the splashy pond path, she finally saw it β her soft landing. a nest of feathers and leaves, shaped just like home. just the right size. just the right smell. justβ¦ right.
narrator: lemon cakes flopped backwards, little webbed feet sticking straight up.
π§ [sparkly magic burst β magic stars retro sparkle by smokinghotdog]
narrator: and then she felt it. not the wind. not the feathers. something else. the invisible string β warm and quiet β stretching from home to here. it had marked each step, softened each landing, tucked safety into places she didnβt even see.
lemon cakes (softly): "it feels just like my favourite story β the invisible string."
narrator: it was like her mum was actually with her β even when she wasnβt. and her heart filled up with love.
lemon cakes: "thanks, mammaβ¦ i wonder if iβd be able to do all this on my own β if i didnβt have the kind of mum i do."
narrator: and with that, she rested β in the softest landing of all: the knowing that she has a mum who always helped make the path feel safe.
π§ [soft acoustic guitar outro fades out]
π something to think about
β what helps you feel brave when youβre trying something new?
β do you have a favourite story, object, or person that reminds you youβre safe?
β can you think of a time someone helped make something easier for you β even if you didnβt see it at first?
π note for grown-ups
this episode was created in honour of motherβs day β and especially for the mums of neurodivergent children, who so often provide the invisible scaffolding their child needs to feel safe in the world.
the story gently celebrates the everyday advocacy, sensory awareness, and deep connection many mothers bring β in ways that are rarely acknowledged, and often unseen.
itβs for the mums who drop everything to do an unexpected school pick-up for the fourth time that week.
for the ones who gently plan birthday parties so they donβt feel too loud, too long, or too much.
who pre-pack the bag, pre-read the email, pre-feel the moment β just in case.
itβs for the mums who line up the therapy team, secure the funding, coordinate appointments β
and the ones who carry the pain of their childβs exclusion.
who explain, re-explain, and advocate β again and again.
itβs for the mums who create soft landings every day in so many ways β even when no one else sees.
if today feels like a lot, we feel you.
if today feels like something to celebrate, weβre here with you too.
thank you for being so brave in raising brave humans. π
